L’amore di fare – at Centro
It’s a great pleasure to assist someone in realizing a dream or a vision in terms of an interior, but it’s an even greater thrill to expand on it. Such is the case with a recent pop-up interior for a very successful experiential retail concept in downtown Burlington Ontario we helped bring to life 2 years ago.
Not wanting to miss an opportunity to speak to audiences through a space, we concluded that the expansion could express an area of offering that was under-evolved in Centro. L’amore di fare by Centro is a celebration of “the love of doing” and features more category focused design and maker’s object that have purpose or use — cooking, cleaning, bar, entertaining, pantry etc.
The shop had to literally pop up. The challenge was the previous occupant was moving out November 15th and being it was full-on Christmas we had one week to get in and get it going within 1 week. That’s 1 week! So with the objective to design an interior that could drop in and fit with a relatively beat up space but look right, we set out to find rather than build.
Reclaim industrial crates and palettes were sourced and painted ahead of time along with an old stump and a pile of recovered cedar decking from the cabin. With a little elbow, some saws, vino and a string of late nights we did it.
The result is a fun, fresh and spontaneous palette for the fantastic items that grace the shelves.
